  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, mash the ripe bananas and set aside.
  3. In another bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
  6. Stir in the mashed bananas.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  8. Pour batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  9. For frosting, beat butter, add powdered sugar, and vanilla, mixing until smooth.
  10. Once the cake has cooled, frost with the spiced vanilla buttercream.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use brown sugar instead of granulated sugar.
  • Make sure the bananas are very ripe for the best sweetness.
